Misty Ray
Misty's goal as a designer is to assist her clients with all elements of style so that they will look forward to spending time in their homes and offices. She believes our interiors are an extension of ourselves and should be as comfortable as our own skin. Misty also wants to help shatter the myth that an interior decorator is a luxury. Misty wants to aid her clients in achieving a truly unique personal space regardless of what they have or how much they wish to spend. She knows that her experience and talent can help them in developing a design plan that will successfully take them from start to finish. By specializing in Design in a Day consultations, she feels she is able to reach a broader demographic of clients who would like design direction but are simply not ready for a large project, or do not believe it's something they can afford. While this approach still allows her to do what she loves, choosing color, theme and accessories, it also gives the client a design plan that they can use to create the ideal space at their pace. With a working and scholastic background in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, Misty feels she has another tool to aid her clients in achieving their own masterpiece.
Misty takes pleasure in helping her clientele incorporate recycled/salvaged pieces in their design project. She feels these pieces can add so much personality and history to an interior. "People laugh when I use the old adage one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, but it’s so true. Of course to the untrained eye, these gems can be hard to find under all the tarnish. I really enjoy finding new uses or places for reclaimed objects. Not only are you getting a one of kind piece, but you’re also doing your part to help the environment by recycling."
When she’s not working, she is often enjoying fabulous food with friends or involved in a gamut of art project collaborations. She has just fulfilled a life-long dream of learning old world style printing called letterpress. This type of printmaking has opened another venue for her artistic expression and has made her decide to work on creating a book of her writings and art. "Like interior design, mixed media art is a passion in my life. I consider myself very fortunate to have such a gift and the courage to challenge myself to use it in new ways. Making things beautiful makes me feel completely happy. This principle applies to my love of food, travel and life as well. You could say that when I’m not making something beautiful, then I’m probably eating something beautiful or looking at something beautiful." Not a bad way to live life at all!.
